2)
Raise
Pledges... It's easier than you think.
Print off the pledge form
on this website and begin asking people (family, friends and
co-workers) to sponsor you. Look for our "Making Fundraising Easy"
full of great ideas and tips, enclosed in your Rider or Volunteer
package. The minimum required pledge is $1 per mile for all riders
(all pledges are 100% tax deductible). Children 10 and under ride
free.
In an effort to strengthen this event's
campaign to empower people with mental and physical challenges, The
Greg LeMond Bike Ride will be instituting a new pledge policy. All
riders will be required to give credit card information or a hold
check to cover minimum pledge levels. Your credit card will be charged
or check cashed only if we have not received the minimum pledge
requirement by October 16, 1998. We appreciate your assistance and
understanding.
A team of family, friends, or co-workers can
be a powerful fundraising force. The Greg LeMond Bike Ride's "Team
Starter Kit" also contains fundraising tools, goal setting ideas
and matching gift information.
See the Pledge From where you can signify that
you are riding "in honor" of someone special. You will
receive a commemorative certificate of your accomplishment in this
person's name.
3) Enjoy The Ride Safely
Your safety is important to us! The Greg
LeMond Bike Ride is a ride, NOT a race, and helmets are required!
Please obey all traffic signals, stop at all stop signs, and watch for
cars and pedestrians. Tandems are welcome on all rides and child bike
trailers are allowed only on the 25 mile rides. The Greg LeMond Bike
Ride provides exceptional ride support including:
- Rest stops stocked with high energy snacks
and refreshments
- Well marked, carefully planned scenic
courses
- Great lunch stop in Wisconsin (62 and 100
mile rides only)
- Medical support personnel
- Bicycle mechanics along the way
- Experienced SAG (support and gear) wagons
to pick up and assist with breakdowns
- Supportive and friendly volunteers to help
and cheer you on
- Entertaining Finish Parties to celebrate
your success
4)
Collect Your Pledges
Continue to collect pledges up to six weeks
after the ride (October 16, 1998). All riders are required to raise $1
per mile (all pledges are tax deductible). Children 10 and under ride
